Coaching is not just useful in sports

Individual coaching makes it possible to achieve personal and professional goals quickly. The aim of this strategic approach is to help people overcome obstacles preventing them from achieving a desired level of success and satisfaction. There is no magic involved; it is simply a matter of technique and working together in synergy. Based on an approach developed in the United States, personal coaching, also know as Life Coaching, seeks to strike a balance between the professional and private lives of individuals.

According to Didier Sicaud, the founding president of eLAcentral, a network of coaches in Canada and Europe, “a coach is an individual who helps his/her clients set goals, develop and implement strategies for achieving those goals and put them in perspective within the broader context of their life project.” Mastering the art of conversation, the coach must be a motivator, a collaborator, an advisor and a friend all at the same time.

Coaching is for all those (young entrepreneurs, businesswomen, employees or business executives) who need outside support to climb over a hurdle, make a decision or move forward in their professional or even their personal lives.

People meet with a coach in a real or virtual location (in a room, by telephone, via electronic mail or through video-conferencing). Some coaches even offer online services. The eLAcentral company, for example, offers a full range of online services; its coaching program can be followed over the Internet when geographic restrictions make it impossible to organize personal meetings with clients.

The hiring of a personal coach who knows the most direct way for you to put your body into better shape and can devise a program for you to follow is a particularly effective approach for most people. A coach can also perceive when you are getting bored or starting to lose motivation, and is able to change your routine to ensure that you continue to improve. Doesn’t it make sense to have a partner who can help you concentrate on your vision and goals?
